“Smart Parking ” is the modern solution which addresses the complications of optimal urban parking management. Utilising the Internet technologies of Things ( IoT ) and Mobile Communications, Municipality residents and visitors can be informed of free parking spaces easily and accurately.
The Pafos Municipality of Paphos is implementing a project to replace and install 7,000 LED street lighting lamps with “Smart Lights” and install 55 “Smart Poles” within the city limits, yet another ‘smart city’ project, saving local authorities half a million euros.
The Pafos Municipality has created its own privately operated and autonomous LoRaWAN network , through which all the sensor devices of the ongoing digital and smart city projects will communicate with each other or will be implemented in the future, providing real-time valuable and direct information to the public.
A user friendly digital tool for every visitor, guest, as well as the local, a gateway to the ancient monuments, the natural beauty and the modern life of Aphrodite’s city, some of it in plain sight, while many others still not obvious to the eye.
In practical terms, the Pafos Municipality has created an easy, uncomplicated language information reference, with everything you might be looking for in a daily walkabout or drive around town.
The passenger public, both locals and visitors, who went to move easily and safely around the city centre as well as the Kato Pafos tourist area, are reminded of the ‘green’ circular routes provided free of charge on the first electric minibus, a Pafos municipality contribution to sustainable urban development and environmental protection.
A full redundancy and multi-level infrastructure centre, with data security systems and connected through fibre optics in order to ensure quality, uninterrupted operation of all services produced and carried through it.
The Centre hosts the Municipality’s computer systems, including geographical information (GIS), the residents bill payment system and the rest of the databases
Yet another essential step towards the transformation of Pafos into a smart, digital city. Addressing the signing of the relevant contract ceremony, the Pafos mayor stressed that GIS as an integral part of the city’s drive towards the smart, digital era, providing the possibility of mapping the urban area, as it will accurately record all infrastructures.
