Another project of major importance for Pafos and Yeroskipou.
A contract was signed between Mayor Phaidonos and contractor company Panayiotis Michalitsis Anonymos Technical Construction – Contracting Commercial and Energy Company with d.t. Lakon A.T.E.
The project calls for the “Creation of a network of public transportation infrastructure and public sanitation in Pafos and Yeroskipou using the Study-Construction-Maintenance method”, at a total cost of 7,613,382 euros.
The project includes the creation of three new modern bus stations, a terminal in the “Karavella” area, and two transfer stations, on the Avenue of Tombs of the Kings and the archaeological park in Limanaki.
It also includes the installation of 196 “smart” bus stops in Pafos and Yeroskipou and building a new public toilets facility, with 30 cubicles.
It will be completed within an 18 month timeframe, with a period of five year maintenance period by the contracting company.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, Mayor Phaidonos stressed this was a holistic approach, forging an example for the rest of the cities.
He noted that the city is moving from the town era to modern city times and within this context, it needs the critical mass of the population to support and perform the major urban infrastructure projects already executed.
We should not think regionally, he added, but in the interests of the citizens.
For his part, contracting company president and managing director Panayiotis Michalitsis, assured that his company will execute the project with due diligence in the stipulated time frames.
The project was presented by Pafos Municipal Engineer Neophytos Zavridis, while the Director of the Public Works Department, Sokratis Zapitis, also addressed the event.
Also attending were Mayor of Yeroskipou Michalis Pavlidis, Municipal Councillors, representatives of involved public services, as well as competent officials of the Pafos and Yeroskipou municipalities.
